PROUD TO SUPPORT CARING ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE VALLEY
At Talking Stick Resort™ and Casino Arizona™, we are honored to cultivate compassion in partnership with exceptional charitable organizations in the Valley.
We fund grants to health service organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their efforts help cancer patients of all ages live better, longer lives. As communities care for folks in need, it plants seeds for a flourishing quality of life.
We also support charities that provide guidance to kids, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. With their help, young people learn positive ways to overcome challenges and accomplish goals. We believe that when children reach their potential, it forms a brighter future for everyone.
Every year, we support these charities, along with many others. Their efforts help create a stronger, healthier and more vibrant community for us all. Your support of Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort makes our commitment possible. Thank you. To learn more about our efforts in the community, read below.
KAITY'S WAY EMPOWERS AND INSPIRES YOUNG PEOPLE
Kaity's Way was founded to commemorate the life of Kaitlyn Marie Sudberry, a beautiful, vivacious, artistically talented and loving young lady who would have celebrated her 22nd birthday this year. Kaitlyn's promising future was forever derailed because of the act of an estranged ex-boyfriend, who took her life, then his in 2008. The incident left two families heartbroken, yet in the face of tragedy, Ric and Bobbi Sudberry—Kaityln's parents—made it their mission to prevent this from happening again. Today, Kaity’s Way is dedicated to teaching pre-teens and teens the characteristics of positive versus negative relationships. It also empowers young people to recognize problematic behavioral signs in themselves or others, and gives them a safe path in asking for help.
The group's founding principles are rooted in promoting understanding and educating the community as a way to lessen the instances of violence among or against children through P.E.A.C.E.: Patience, Empathy, Acceptance, Caring and Equality. The organization conducts workshops in schools and at youth centers across the state. The sessions always start with Kaity's story and end with a more enlightened, informed audience.
Between workshops, Kaity's Way engages in many community events, including their annual fundraiser--Step Against Teen Dating Violence--a couples' dance competition. Through the participants' energetic dance routines and choice of compositions, the event celebrates Kaitlyn's life and her love of music.
This year's participants were a who's who of local celebrities, including Fox News anchor Kristin Anderson, Go Daddy Girl Leeann Dearing; DJ and Power Drive lead vocalist Angie Gomez and 3TV news anchor Javier Soto. All of the competing couples delighted the audience with their dance moves and raised much-needed funds for Kaity's Way.
